Passports are a must for our travel abroad. The passport we use for our trip is called an ordinary electronic passport.
Ordinary e-passports are issued to Chinese citizens who go abroad for non-official reasons such as settlement, family visit, study, employment, travel, business activities and so on.
When you get a passport, you tend to care more about your information page, or the visa information on the visa page.
What if you lose your passport abroad? What kind of passport is a invalid passport? Under what circumstances will it be impossible to leave the Shanghai to Krabi flight country? Let's take a look at eight cold knowledge about passports!
一
What's the use of the passport note page?
The note page adds relevant information to the issuing authorities (or embassies and consulates), inspection organs, etc.
For example, when the passport expires and a new passport needs to be replaced, the passport is lost and the holder changes his name, the immigration authorities, embassies and consulates will add relevant notes to the note page of the passport.
Note: in principle, visas cannot be affixed to the remarks page. However, accidents also have a chance to occur.
For example, the border check will occasionally cover the entry and exit sections to the Notes page. The visa officer may also be in a hurry to apply a visa to the comment page.
If you encounter the above two situations, do not panic, in fact, visas and passports can be used normally in both cases.
二
How to calculate the blank page of passport?
When applying for visas from other countries, travelers may encounter the requirement that passports must have X (continuous) blank pages.
Generally speaking, for embassies and consulates, "a blank page" means that there can be no trace of entry and exit seals, stickers or staples on a single visa page.
And "two consecutive blank pages" means that the two blank visa pages on the passport that meet the above requirements must be continuous, and so on!
三
The passport is valid for less than six months. Can I leave the country?
Just because you have a visa doesn't mean you can enter the country!
Due to the different requirements for the validity of passports at the time of entry inspection, it is generally more than six months and more than three months.
Travelers must first confirm the entry rules of their destination, otherwise they are most likely to be refused check-in.
Even if the registration process can be carried out smoothly, it is still possible for travelers to be refused entry through the border inspection in China.
Therefore, it is very important to confirm the validity of the passport! If the validity period is not enough, issue a new passport in time before you travel.
四
There is no time for white pages. Can I go to the visa-free / visa-on-arrival country?
If you start from another country, border checks may verify the number of blank pages of your passport before the traveler leaves the country.
Even if the destination is a visa-free country, since entry and exit still need to be stamped on the passport, the border check at the departure place is most likely to require at least one blank page on the passport, and travelers who do not meet the requirements may be refused to leave the country.
五
What are the pages of a passport and what is the use of it?
Page 2 of the passport is the information page, covered with film number. The machine reading area at the bottom of the data page is printed with an international standard machine reading code.
Page 3 is the request page. It is a common international practice to set up a request page. In addition to asking other countries for help when necessary, it is also a ceremonial greeting from the holder when crossing the border of another country.
Page 4-page 7 is a note page for printing all kinds of notes (e.g. passport replacement / replacement note, etc.).
Page 8-page 46 is the visa page, which is used to affix country visa stickers and affix entry and exit seals.
Page 47 is the emergency information page, which should fill in true and valid information. Page 48 is the attention page.
六
Can you apply for a passport change in the middle of a trip?
Not every country's Chinese embassies and consulates are in a position to process passport replacement applications.
Some embassies and consulates can only provide travel permit services so that travelers can return to China for passport replacement.
Therefore, long-distance travel should be planned when the number of passport blank visa pages is large.
It should not be delayed when you arrive in a country where a passport can be renewed.
七
How can a passport be considered "invalid"?
Passports are considered "invalid" in three cases:
Passport is damaged and affects normal use, (e.g. painted, missing page number, soaked in liquid, personal photo blurred and unable to match myself, etc.).
The passport itself has expired.
(3) after the passport has been stolen or lost, the relevant organization has issued a certificate of loss, and the holder has submitted an application for a travel permit to the local embassy and consulate of China (being abroad) or an application for replacement of the passport to the immigration authority (in the domestic country), The original passport will automatically expire.
八
What if the passport is lost when travelling abroad?
Step 1: Report the loss to the local police station, obtain a certificate of loss of the passport and a copy of the passport.
Report Tips
A, prepare photocopies of passport and visa before reporting.
B, the report materials issued by the police Shanghai to Kota Kinabalu flight are used as one of the certificates for the replacement of passports and the legal entry and residence of tourists in the country in the future, and they are also backup materials for applying for exit visas from the local immigration authorities, so the proof of reporting must be kept well.
Step 2: the Embassy shall issue a supplementary travel permit
After the police report the loss certificate, go to the Chinese embassy or consulate in the host country to issue a replacement passport or travel certificate.
It takes 15 working days to get a replacement passport, which may far exceed your travel time. Therefore, it is recommended that you apply for a travel permit and have the same effect as a passport.
It takes 4 working days to handle the travel permit normally and only 2 working days to be urgent. The travel permit is valid for two years.
Instructions for the use of travel permits
The travel certificate you get can only be used for return, and must be used with a copy of your passport and a passport loss certificate issued by the police of the country in which you are located.
